SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
CAMPS AND VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

Volleyball day one
Today starts the first day of the co-ed volleyball league. It was all about introducing myself and the teams with each other. Everyone got along today and we got the games going on a little late. I watched the teams play as I kept score for each of the games. After the games were over we finalized the scores and I put the equipment back into the shed. Day one was over and it went well, everyone obeyed the rules and we only had a little bit of issues with the score but we got it squared away. A good day one.

Equestrian Camp day 1
This morning started our equestrian camp. This camp was held with the Tiffin equestrian team. We hosted kids from 6-9yrs old. These kids were a handful. It was actually pretty cool to see horses and deal with them since I have never done that before. The team was very welcoming and taught me a lot about the horses they had. The kids had a lot of fun doing the activities we had set up as well as riding the horses. The camp was only two hours long and after we were all done we had a little water balloon fight.

Equestrian Camp day 2
Day two of the equestrian camp just got worse. The kids we had today were older 10-12yr so we thought they would have behaved more maturely but they did not. They though they knew everything about how to handle horses so it was harder to get them to understand. Also the Tiffin paper was there today taking pictures as we helped the kids with the horses. I was actually in the paper the next day for this event. Other than that today was just like the first day we had games and a lot of fun once the kids started to listen. The horses really responded to me as well today which was kinda cool.

Equestrian Camp day 3
Day three was more relaxing for me. I actually went on my own for a bit and connected with the other horses that were in their stalls. These horses are so alike to use. Whenever I talk to them or pet them I can just feel the energy between us and I feel as thought they are listening to every word. The way they look at you and respond to your commands makes them feel more human like to me than any other animal. Its amazing. I didn't get to ride any of them this day but it was fun being able to connect with them alone, my first time ever doing that.

Volleyball league
Day five, Things ran a lot smoother this week. I got the equipment set up and got ready for the games. It was pretty hot out today and I disliked just sitting there ha ha. I also realized there is a team that always causes problems and I knew I would have trouble with them all year. They try to run the league and I heard from other teams that this happens every year. Although we didn't really have much mishaps on this day. The teams were looking good and as usual I sat there and took score.

Volleyball League
Today was a rainy day. The games started off fine but as soon as we got to the 7pm games it started to rain. I was wearing a white shirt and shorts. We stayed out there and continued to play. I ended up getting soaked out there and just embraced it. The games took little bit longer considering it was muddy and the ball was really slippery. This was not to good of a day but oh well sometimes it rains and we have to deal with it.
June 22nd, 2016
Golf Camp day 1
The golf camp was hosted by the Tiffin golf team today. The camp was held with mostly boys and they were very focused and eager to learn. I was just a leader to make sure the kids didn't get out of hand while the golf experts taught. It was a nice old course and a good day. The group I was with were learning how to putt. It is actually hard to do and the kids were not paying attention much this time around. The camp ran smoothly and for the most part the kids had fun, we had a little competition to afterwards.
June 23rd, 2016
Golf Camp day 2
The next day our group worked on our swing a lot more. Surprisingly some of the kids had a decent swing and there wasn't many corrections. We had a little tournament with each other to see who could hit it the farthest and the closest to the whole and I did not win . I'm not really a golfer but it was fun to learn some of the things I did from the universities golfers. Its been nice outside to so that been helping, the sun has been out with a cool breeze so it made for a good day of golf.
June 24th, 2016
Golf Camp day 3
The last day of the camp was just a fun kick back day for everyone. We had lunch which was hot dogs and hamburgers and we sat around to get to know each other and the staff better. A lot of these kids golf on the regular which was interesting but it was also fun to get a whole tour of the golf course and see just about how big it was. By this time the kids all know my name and we are familiar with each other so we just played around cracking jokes and putting on the putting green until it was time to go.

Volleyball League
Another volleyball week, except this week came with problems and arguments. One team wanted to disqualify another team because they had high school girls on there team and supposedly they are not allowed to play while they are in season for their high school. The team made it a big deal while nobody else really cared and it started girl drama. There was yelling and it got a bit out of hand so I had to step in and take control. I ended up handling it and we continued the play but it took awhile and one team had to forfeit in fear that the other team would call their coaches.

Office Work
Today I spent most of my hours working in the office for Bryce, I focused on updated the scores and standings for all the volleyball leagues we had. Also I helped with different calls and organizing paperwork. It was a good organizing day for me and taught me a lot when it comes to keep things in order. It was also an easy day after I was done I was able to go home and my deed was done for today.
July 12th, 2016
Volleyball League
This week was a hectic week. The teams were a lot more competitive because they had to make sure they made the playoffs. I had to be more strict on the rules and be sure everything was being played fair. We didn't have any problems, everyone was on their A game and the teams that I felt should win, won. I continued to keep score until the day was done and then I proceeded to clean up and then I headed home.
July 17th, 2016
Volleyball playoffs day 1
Volleyball playoffs day one was intense. When woman get competitive everything is took up about 10 more notches. We had quite a bit of arguments that were easily settled. Also a team that has lost a lot this year actually beat a good team which was surprising to see but I kept score again and made sure everything went according to plan. Bryce visited and made sure I was okay and also came to watch the playoff day go down. At the end of the day we had a top team against a team that was expected to make it so day two would be interesting.
July 19th, 2016
Volleyball playoffs day 2
The day two of playoffs was only one game, it was the championship game. Ohhh boy how this game was intense. I felt like I was keeping score in a professional woman's volleyball match. These girls were yelling after every play and making sure their team was doing their best. Considering I wasn't apart of any of the drama is was actually a pretty fun game to watch. The team that we all expected to win actually won. It took them five games to do it but it was a good game. Now the staff had to make shirts for the winning team but the overall volleyball playoff experience was fun nonetheless.

Bowling Camp day 1
Today was the day of my internship that we hosted a bowling camp at the near by bowling alley here in tiffin. This was mainly to just sign up kids and have fun bowling. I had my little group of kids that I watched over and made sure I could help them while they bowled. I also bowled a little bit and didn't do to well. The kids were usually the same when it came to the camp so by the time I had the bowling camp I knew most of the kids that came to have fun with us. Today was mostly a safety day for every one and we did bowl quite a bit but we wanted to get the family and kids familiar with everything for the days ahead.
July 21st, 2016
Bowling Camp day 2
Day 2 of bowling was just the same but with a little twist. Now that we got the rules down and everyone is familiar with the bowling alley we could have some real fun. The way we put a twist on this day was that we put bumpers on everyones lane for the kids. Now there was no way the kids could get a gutter ball which made them really happy. We wanted to see who would be the most competitive and try to win the whole thing. We had prizes for everyone, small prizes like candy and such. This day was pretty fun because all of the kids were happy they weren't getting gutter balls. Also we announced that for day 3 they would need to bring in their own custom designed bowling pin of any character they would like.
July 22nd, 2016
Bowling Camp day 3
The kids came in today happier then ever. They were so excited to show us the bowling pins they made for al of us to see. They actually did a pretty good job at designing these pins. They had characters designed all the way from disney to professional athletes. We lined them up according to category (sports, disney, movies) and decided what pin was the best. I remember we decided on a minion and a professional baseball player as the best one. We also had cosmic bowling today which made the day that much better for the kids. All the lights were off and they just had a bunch of colored lights all over the bowling alley, It was a successful final day.

Final Days
Today was the start of my final three days here at tiffin parks and rec. Bryce and I spent most of our day working in the office finalizing a lot of paperwork. We had to make sure we had all the signatures and paperwork from parents for all the camps we hosted in the summer. Also I made sure we had each teams signature and payment for the volleyball league. We just organized everything and finished the paper work and made any phone calls to the people for any corrections we needed to discuss. It was a very boring but easy day for us, I got to know Bryce a little more which was also cool. After we felt like I did enough he had just let me go home for the rest of the day and be back tomorrow to help with more volleyball stuff.

Final Days
The championship for the volleyball was on of the last days I worked. It was a good game between two good girl teams. One team had college players on it as well as alumni. The other team was just a group of friends who were actually pretty good at the whole volleyball thing. The ladies were very nice this day and we ended the volleyball league on a good note. I made a lot of friendships working here and doing this league. The woman became very familiar with me around the town of tiffin. I would see them around all the time and say hi. The last thing I had to do here was just pick up all the volleyball equipment and put it in the shed for the final time. The park activities and being around these woman as they played their sport was a great experience all together.

Final Days
I spent the last day in the office for a little bit. The volleyball team that won the championship receives a championship shit and it was up to me to design it. The team was called smoking aces. So what I wanted to do was a big volleyball with an ace of spades right in the middle with some smoke in the background. We all thought that would be cool, so I spent my time designing that and we thought it came out great. After I was done with that, thats all they needed from me and we went about our ways. I had a lot of fun there and learned a lot about managing leagues, teams, and people in an organized setting for that I couldn't be more happy. I'm glad I chose to do my internship with tiffin parks and recreation.
